Key Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities Include
- Assist with forestry, range, and land stewardship projects
- Assist with timber sale layout and timber cruising
- Application of herbicide for weed control
- Fence construction and maintenance
- Sign and kiosk installation and maintenance
- Trail clearing and maintenance
- Clean-up of illegal dump sites
- Preventative maintenance on various types of equipment
- Shop organization, cleaning, and maintenance
- Equipment operation
- Transporting ATVs/UTVs and equipment
Qualifications
Ideal Candidate
- Experience operating ATVs, UTVs and 4x4 vehicles
- Experience loading, unloading, and towing bumper pull and/or fifth wheel trailers
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Equipment maintenance and mechanical skills
- Heavy equipment operation experience
- Plant and weed identification skills
- Experience with grant writing
- DOT Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and/or medical card
- Wildland fire training, e.g. S130, S212, etc.
- Chainsaw experience/training
- GPS and/or GIS experience
- Current Utah pesticide applicators license
- Ability to perform field work, often alone, in all weather conditions, and in remote locations by 4x4, ATV/UTV, or arduous, off-trail hiking in hilly to steep, mountainous terrain
- Ability to work effectively without supervision
- Ability to follow detailed verbal and/or written directions
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Preference given to applicants possessing/seeking a degree in natural resources or a related field or possessing/seeking certificates in trade skills
- Enthusiastic support of the Trust Lands Administration's mission to generate revenue for the trust beneficiaries
