Key Responsibilities
Job Duties:
As an Internal Control Compliance Auditor, you will receive specific direction regarding audit areas, plans, and procedures. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring Internal Controls: Conducting tests to verify if internal controls (as defined in Division of Finance policies) have been implemented and are operating effectively at various state agencies.
- Executing Audit Plans: Following detailed steps and procedures provided by the Compliance Manager to examine financial records, transactions, and operational processes.
- Reporting Findings: Drafting clear, concise, and accurate reports that detail audit findings and provide constructive recommendations for corrective action.
- Communication & De-escalation: Interacting professionally with agency staff to discuss findings. You will be expected to communicate potential conflicts or compliance issues calmly and effectively, de-escalating tense situations when necessary to maintain productive working relationships.
- Continuous Learning: Actively learning state policies, audit standards, and professional practice guidelines. While strict adherence to external audit standards is not required, you will apply them as a "best practice" in your daily work.
- Collaborating: Working closely with your supervisor to review work papers, accepting feedback and coaching to improve your technical and professional skills.
- Data Analysis: Utilizing spreadsheet software and financial systems to identify trends, anomalies, or errors in financial data.
