Key Responsibilities
The Fiscal Data & Reporting Analyst is a senior level position. This position typically performs activities which may include: the utilization of computer software programs to store data, retrieve stored data, analyze retrieved data, and arrange results in a format that effectively supports the organization's production activities; coordinate the use of information analysis related hardware, software and data with the organization's employees and/or the public; interface with data processing users to automate applications and/or resolve application and operating problems; help customers identify better ways to utilize the system's capabilities; estimate project costs; assure deadlines are met; negotiate common standards for data formats; assess needs for data analysis related hardware, software, and data; and make recommendations to management for improving and/or maintaining effective information analysis support for the organization. Incumbents at this level resolve complex operation and/or data processing issues and monitor system performance; make recommendations for enhancements; review systems to ensure compliance with procedures, policies, regulations; and facilitate/chair work groups, etc. This is a hybrid position and requires two days in our Salt Lake City, UT office.

Principal Duties
- Manages and queries data in databases.
- Uses programming tools to clean, analyze, summarize, and/or review data; conduct statistical analysis, interpret results and/or make recommendations.
- Develops and maintains custom queries and/or financial reports for stakeholders.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of USBE financial information systems
- Collects data and checks for data accuracy, identifies quality issues, and contacts entities and individuals to improve data quality.
- Presents findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
- Creates and maintains interactive dashboards that integrate data for relevant stakeholders.
- Maintains detailed investigative and/or research records, including documentation of work performed.
- Communicates complex, technical information and ideas in non-technical terms both in writing and verbally.
- Working knowledge of SQL (3 years)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information quickly.
- Ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds; Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with business intelligence tools
- Experience with SSRS or other report builders
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant field (Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration) or equivalent industry certifications
- Experience in a government or education setting preferred but not required
- Experience working within a finance or accounting department preferred but not required
- Business intelligence/reporting experience (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) (3 years)
- Azure Cloud experience preferred but not required
