Key Responsibilities

The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind invites you to consider an enjoyable and gratifying employment opportunity with our School. We are looking for a knowledgeable and responsible individual to fill the position of Education Foundation Director. This critical leadership role will serve as the lead fund-raiser and administrator professional for the USDB Education Foundation, responsible for building donor relationships, expanding philanthropic support, securing grants, and strengthening community partnerships that advance the mission of USDB.

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. This position will primarily work from home. A temporary workspace will be available from USDB as needed.

Principal Duties

The USDB Education Foundation Director Will

  • Lead the Foundation's comprehensive annual development strategy and fundraising plans
  • Establish policies, resources, and campaigns to strengthen the program's long-term mission and goals
  • Maintain donor relationships and expand the pipeline of individuals, corporations, and community partners who are potential donors
  • Establish measurable fundraising goals and develop materials, tracking performance metrics, and deliver regular progress updates on revenue and pipeline activity
  • Plan and execute comprehensive donor stewardship initiatives, fundraising events, and multi-platform communications that elevate the Foundation
  • Maintain systems and records to ensure donor information, giving history, grant deadline, and campaign results are accurate and seamlessly reconciled with the finance team in accordance with organizational expectations

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

  • Passionate dedication to the specific educational and developmental needs of deaf and blind students within the State of Utah
  • Demonstrate experience building positive relationships and collaborating effectively with diverse groups, including non-profit boards, elected school board members, alumni, parents, and community partners
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills suited for high-level executive environments, including the absolute discretion to manage highly confidential information
  • Strong organizational and project management initiative, with proficiency in standard office computer systems, software applications, and basic equipment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (including occasional evenings and weekends) and maintain a valid driver license with a willingness to travel within the state

Preferred Skills

  • Significant prior experience working with, or reporting directly to, a public sector or nonprofit governing board
  • Existing knowledge or prior experience with established best practices in fundraising, development, and grant-writing
  • Outstanding personal flexibility, a collaborative sense of humor, and proven skill in directing tasks within a fast-paced, high-profile environment featuring strong stakeholder personalities

Supplemental Information

  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work
  • This is a year-round, full time position. Working Monday - Friday between 9 am and 5 pm. Occasionally, weekend or evening events may be required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check

Schedule Code – AE - Employees of the State Board of Edu. This is a career service exempt at will position.
