LiveScan Fingerprint Technician - Criminal Information Tech I

The main purpose of this position is to provide advanced level support in the Applicant Background Check and Fingerprinting sections of the Bureau of Criminal Identification. Duties may include data entry of background check requests, taking fingerprints, assisting both walk-in and telephone customers.
- Special physical demands are required for this position, the applicant must be able to stand for long periods oftime which may include walking to and from the door to let customers in and physically manipulating anotherpersons hands in order to obtain the fingerprints. This close physical contact may increase your risk of exposure toCOVID and other viruses.
- Must pass the Utah Bureau of Identification Proficiency test with in probationary period and maintain certificationthereafter.
- Fingerprints and a comprehensive background check are required.
- Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm

Qualifications
Principal duties
Prepares ten-print fingerprint cards and fingerprint evidence for entry into Automated Fingerprint IdentificationSystem (AFIS), search fingerprint files manually, and compare and classify fingerprints.
An Ideal Candidate
- Must be able to physically manipulate another persons hands in order to obtain the fingerprints.
- Will be able to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely.
- Will be able to use logic to make a decision or solve a problem.
- Will be able to understand and apply applicable laws, rules, regulations, as well as policies and procedures.
- Will be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
- Will be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Will be able to classify fingerprints using AFIS and the Utah classification method.
