Job Purpose
The Welding instructor is responsible to the Division Dean for Industrial Technology for the delivery of quality instruction, management and advisement of students enrolled in the Welding programs. Responsibilities occur in the areas of instructional management, teaching performance, student advisement, professional development, college/community service, and instructional management.

INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Associate Degree in appropriate discipline, bachelor degree preferred. Relevant industry certifications and work experience may be substituted for a degree.

Job Duties
INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Work with members of the Welding Advisory Committee to participate in planning for new and existing programs and courses.
- Assist in the development of the Welding curriculum for students in the Welding program.
- Evaluate courses in the Welding curriculum.
- Assist in the refinement of curriculum for Welding courses.
- Teach courses as assigned and in accordance with the established syllabi.
- Provide high quality instruction in Welding for students on a regular basis.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis.
- Participate in the Faculty Performance Management System (FPMS).
- Achieve at least a 3.5 on student evaluations and satisfactory peer/supervisor evaluations.
- Work with the Student Services Division in the selection, recruitment, admission and retention of students and to utilize counseling services.
- Advise and maintain records of assigned student advisees in accordance with divisional policy and procedures.
- Provide effective academic advisement for students enrolled in the Welding program.
- Cooperate with the Student Services Division in the placement and follow-up of students.
- Maintain office hours as required to meet the needs of students, faculty, and advisees.
- Represent the Division and College by participating in community and professional meetings.
- Attend relevant professional meetings.
- Maintain a current awareness of educational innovations and trends appropriate to provide high-quality instruction in content area.
- Actively initiate and perform effective student recruitment activities in high schools and in the community.
- Implement marketing activities for the Welding program.
- Utilize the services of staff specialists and coordinators.
- Maintain contacts with appropriate professional and community organizations/individuals in the College’s service area.
- Serve actively on College committees.
- Work cooperatively with other divisional faculty members and College divisions to meet the educational needs of students.
- Foster and promote the relevance of language and communications skills for all degree and certificate programs.
- Maintain proper control and effective use of all physical facilities and supplies in the assigned division.
- Prepare reports in cooperation with Division Dean for input into the planning/reporting system.
- Administer student regulations within the division.
- Ensure communication of policies, procedures, and campus information to all students.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Division Dean.
- Maintain Welding labs at state-of-the-art standards.
- Maintain appropriate vendor-specific certifications related to instructional program.
