What are the responsibilities and job description for the Highway Maintenance Worker III Crew Leader (61036349) position at State of South Carolina?
At Lexington Maintenance, serves as crew leader coordinating various construction and maintenance activities. Performs duties such as time sheets, daily work reports, investigation and completion of work requests. Inspects and installs signs and traffic markings as specified by District Traffic Engineer submittals. Leads a crew in the traffic control for lane closures, detours and road closures in accordance with South Carolina Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Lays out and installs turn lane chevrons, railroad crossings, crosswalks and stop bars in accordance with SCDOT Standards and Specifications. Performs job hazard analysis of large jobs prior to doing work to minimize the risk of injury. Operates equipment as directed by supervisor for during emergency and hazardous weather operations.Two (2) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis. May be required to work overtime, nighttime, and/or weekends during hazardous weather or emergencies.

Salary : $50,960 - $66,800
