Individuals selected for positions with the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department's Disability Determination Service (DDS) will go through a complete federal background investigation. - You will make medical severity ratings for the purpose of adjudicating Social Security Administration (SSA) disability claims under Title II and Title XVI of the Social Security Act.
- You will review and evaluates medical evidence of records pertaining to mental impairments and makes a determination of severity impairment and residual functional capacity following SSA guidelines and policies.
- You will provide case consultation on mental impairment severity to disability examiners.
- You will contact claimant treating sources by telephone to obtain medical evidence.
- You will provide training and assistance to the Disability Determination Services staff on psychological issues relevant to the adjudication of mental disability claims.
