Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Area Supervisor, the Area Maintenance Technician provides skilled, cross-functional maintenance and repair services for residence halls. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and performing preventive and corrective maintenance in areas such as carpentry, locksmithing, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and painting. Will complete assigned work orders, ensure efficient facility operations, and communicate follow-up needs to supervisors. This role is designated as essential personnel during emergencies, including hazardous weather, and participates in an on-call rotation for after-hours response.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with major repairs to electrical, plumbing, heating, HVAC equipment, and appliance repair.
- Repair and perform preventive maintenance on general building facilities and electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, and communication systems.
- Provides maintenance support as needed in post-construction sites and in buildings affected by flooding or other damage.
- Conduct general and emergency repairs to equipment and facilities.
- Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and materials used in maintenance tasks.
- Follow established safety practices and procedures.
