Area Zone Maintenance
Under the supervision of the Area Supervisor, the Area Maintenance Technician provides skilled, cross-functional maintenance and repair services for residence halls. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and performing preventive and corrective maintenance in areas such as carpentry, locksmithing, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and painting. Will complete assigned work orders, ensure efficient facility operations, and communicate follow-up needs to supervisors. This role is designated as essential personnel during emergencies, including hazardous weather, and participates in an on-call rotation for after-hours response.

Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience:
Requires job related accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of general maintenance. Trade School or Apprenticeship helpful.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Under limited supervision, maintains and follows a safe, productive, cost effective and comprehensive planned and corrective maintenance program for constant reliable operations relating to all carpentry, locksmith, electrical, HVAC and plumbing needs within residence halls by receiving work orders, communicating with the Work Control Office, the supervisor, other facility employees and customers. Plans, inspects, verifies, communicates and troubleshoots assigned maintenance issues ensuring that all facility systems are in safe working order and compliant with national and local codes and regulations.

Perform necessary repair work, which may include temporary repairs sufficient to secure the systems and facilities until permanent repairs are feasible; notify appropriate personnel if further action is required; log all calls received and document action taken.
