Job Responsibilities
The person in this position will meet the requirements of VirtualSC's Online Teaching Standards in the Instruction domain by meeting the mastery level in knowing the learners, demonstrating content knowledge, presenting instructional content, ensuring appropriate pacing, selecting resources and activities, motivating students, questioning students, providing academic feedback, and setting expectations. Meet the requirements of VirtualSC's Online Teaching Standards in the Environment domain by meeting the mastery level in managing student behavior, establishing the online course environment, and maintaining a respectful culture. Meet the requirements of VirtualSC's Online Teaching Standards in the Professionalism domain by meeting the mastery level in growing and developing professionally, reflecting on teaching practice, and managing courses. Participate in the course design and revision process either formally, as subject matter expert (SME) or a second reader, or informally; Participate in internal course review and standards alignment processes. Perform other duties as assigned.
This position is located in the Office of VirtualSC.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree with certification as a professional teacher in the subject area to be taught by the South Carolina Department of Education of Education.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates should ideally hold a professional, continuing educator certification in Area 47 (Business Education) or Area 4B (Business/Marketing/Computer Technology), as listed in the Required Credentials for Professional Staff Members in the Instructional Programs of South Carolina’s Public Schools. A combination of certifications in the following areas will also be considered for the position: Area 40 (Commerce), Area 46 (Data/Information Processing), Area 32 (Distributive Education), Area 44 (Accounting and Related Business), and Area 48 (Accounting and Related Economics).
