JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of department, this position serves as the primary Mobile Health Unit driver while providing medical administrative support for mobile and fixed clinic sites. Responsibilities include driving and operational readiness of the mobile unit, along with patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, referrals, and revenue cycle support. The role supports clinical operations and sponsored programs to ensure safe, efficient care delivery. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
35% - Essential - Clinic Operations and Mobile Health Unit Support: Provides operational support for mobile and fixed-site clinics to ensure efficient delivery of care. Serves as the designated mobile health unit driver, responsible for setup and takedown, equipment readiness, and supply inventory and ordering to ensure clinics are prepared based on services offered. Performs light fleet support activities (e.g., transporting the unit for routine maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations) and promptly reports vehicle, equipment, or operational issues to (insert position/title). Supports patient flow and visit logistics, including insurance screening, patient navigation, pre-visit outreach, post-visit follow-up, documentation support, and use of the electronic health record and patient portal. Works closely with clinicians and staff to ensure smooth, patient-centered clinic operations.
20% - Essential - Delivers lifestyle / health education:
Patient Support and Front Desk Services: Provides high-quality customer service to patients and community partners, demonstrating exceptional communication, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity. Performs patient registration, screening, check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, and general information support while building positive relationships and promoting a welcoming care environment. Maintains accurate and confidential health records in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies, with working knowledge of available services, provider scope of practice, program guidelines, and reporting requirements. Provides community outreach support as needed and serves as a Spanish-language translator when applicable and qualified.
20% - Essential - Facilitation of patient/group activity through technology:
Administrative and Scheduling Support: Provides comprehensive administrative and clerical support to mobile health units and fixed clinic locations to ensure efficient daily operations. Creates, maintains, and adjusts provider and clinic schedule templates; manages appointments; performs data entry; and ensures ongoing accuracy and maintenance of patient management systems and the electronic health record. Prepares and maintains reports, correspondence, logs, manuals, forms, and meeting minutes; orders office supplies; gathers program data; and supports program leadership with administrative needs, including development of fliers, web content, and social media posts as appropriate. Manages incoming and outgoing mail and other administrative duties as assigned.
20% - Essential - Fiscal and Revenue Cycle Support: Ensures accurate and complete patient registration, including payor, guarantor, and demographic information in the electronic health record. Verifies insurance coverage and payor sources at scheduling and check-in; collects required identification and payments at time of service; and establishes payment arrangements in accordance with organizational policies. Prepares and processes receipt transmittals, balances daily revenues, completes deposits and bank transports, and ensures all financial transactions are accurately documented and receipts provided upon request. Assists with charge entry, charge corrections, denial management, and third-party billing processes in compliance with CU guidelines.
5% - Essential - Sponsored Programs and Clinical Trials Support: Supports sponsored programs and clinical trials by understanding and applying program guidelines, protocols, eligibility criteria, and reporting requirements, including annual updates. Maintains effective communication with community partners, sponsors, and referring agencies to ensure proper coordination of patient services. Assists clinic staff and principal investigators with the implementation of approved research protocols and clinical research activities, as applicable. Completes and maintains required training related to human subjects protection, research compliance, and program-specific requirements.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Education - 1st Bachelor's Degree - High School diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
Work Exp 2 years
Valid South Carolina state drivers license with no active or pending suspension.
