Description of Work
The Eastern NC School for the Deaf is seeking an experienced Receptionist to join our team. Experience working in a school environment is a plus. The perfect candidate will be friendly, highly motivated, energetic and work well with educators, parents and co-workers.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide Administrative Support to the front desk reception area. Responsibilities and duties may include, greeting visitors; Answer, screen and direct incoming phone calls to appropriate department; and accurately record message information as requested by customer.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
Helpful but not required: The ability to communicate using American Sign Language. If not already proficient in American Sign Language, the selected candidate will be required to attend American Sign Language classes, free of charge, during work time on the campus of Eastern NC School for the Deaf.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supplemental and Contact Information
The ENCSD offers students an academic setting with standards-based instruction, low classroom ratios, career and vocational skills development, current technology, and an overall accessible environment for learning through American Sign Language. A boarding program is available for enrolled students residing outside of Wilson County. The ENCSD seeks to promote both intentional and experiential learning to provide continued advancement in student academic achievement and social/emotional well-being.
