Description of Work
The Division of Motor Vehicles is seeking a highly motivated and professional Administrative Support Specialist to serve as a key point of contact for walk-in visitors, telephone inquiries, and face-to-face interactions with management, partner State agencies, and DMV customers. This role requires strong problem-solving abilities, tact, professionalism, and strict confidentiality.The selected candidate will provide a full range of administrative and customer service support while assisting with project management activities and functions on behalf of the Commissioner's Office. This position plays an essential role in promoting a positive, friendly, and professional environment for coworkers, guests, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
• Primary Customer Contact:
Serve as the initial point of contact for internal and external customers. Handle walk-in inquiries, phone calls, and in-person requests with professionalism, accuracy, and discretion.
• Mail & Correspondence Management:
Stamp all incoming correspondence, open and review mail, determine the appropriate course of action, and ensure follow-through on all processing steps.
• Statutory Process Agent Duties:
Serve as the DMV Process Agent in the service of out-of-state defendants, as required by Statutes Section 1-105 and
• Office Operations & Supplies:
Requisition supplies for the Commissioner and staff. Coordinate building maintenance requests, copier repairs, and related service needs to maintain smooth office operations.
• General Office Support:
Perform a variety of basic administrative duties, including filing, document preparation, data entry, scheduling assistance, and other tasks as assigned.
• Project & Leadership Support:
Provide support to the Executive Assistant to the Commissioner and assist other members of Senior Leadership with projects and daily office functions.

Reporting Structure
The employee will report directly to the Executive Assistant to the Commissioner and will also support other members of Senior Leadership. Day-to-day responsibilities will primarily include mail processing, customer service, and general administrative functions.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC09 $39,671- $69,426

- General knowledge of office practices, techniques, and technology sufficient to perform at this level of workDemonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and other members of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to interpret the policies, procedures, rules and regulations pertaining to the program.
Minimum Education and Experience
