Description of Work

DSDHH is hiring! We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized administrative professional to join the Equipment Distribution Service team as an EDS Program Assistant!

As a Program Assistant within the Equipment Distribution Service (EDS), you will play a vital role in connecting individuals with the equipment they need to communicate effectively. You will support the daily operations of the Equipment Distribution Service by managing the full life cycle of applications and invoices for telecommunications equipment. Your work ensures timely access to critical resources for the communities we serve.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Processing applications for telecommunications equipment, including approving, denying, or holding applications and notifying applicants and vendors of decisions.
  • Reviewing and submitting vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, and coordinating with the Controller’s Office for payment.
  • Maintaining organized, efficient systems for tracking applications, invoices, vendor information, and client records.
  • Resolving issues related to application completeness, compliance with program requirements, and vendor agreements.
  • Serving as a key point of contact among vendors, manufacturers, and internal financial teams for invoicing or payment concerns.
  • Developing and maintaining spreadsheets, databases, and other information‑tracking tools to support program efficiency.
  • Preparing documents, organizing files, and participating in routine purging and digital storage preparation.
  • Supporting customer service needs, including responding to vendor calls and participating in team and regional center meetings.

The Equipment Distribution Service ensures that Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and Speech‑Impaired North Carolinians have the tools necessary to stay connected. Your attention to detail and commitment to service will directly impact their ability to access essential communication technology and support. This position works closely with the Equipment Distribution Coordinator and program assistants to continuously improve workflows and customer service delivery. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade Range $39,244 - $68,679

Recruitment Range $39,244 - $43,000

**Position is eligible for a hybrid-teleworking schedule to include weekly onsite work hours**

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Previous office administration experience including filing, scheduling employment, drafting documents, and processing mail.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft products: Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of telecommunications equipment and hearing loss assistive technology for individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (HOH)

Physical Requirements: Ability to travel
