The Public Information Specialist (Digital Content) duties in our Office of Public Affairs will include but are not limited to the following:
Reporting to the Director of Public Information, the Public Information Specialist (Digital Content) in the Public Information Office (PIO) will include but are not limited to the following:

The Website Specialist will lead efforts to modernize and maintain the Department’s extensive web presence, which includes hundreds of webpages supporting numerous divisions, programs, and public-facing services.

Key responsibilities will include:
• Conducting a comprehensive review and modernization of existing web content.
• Reorganizing and simplifying information to improve navigation and accessibility.
• Ensuring compliance with accessibility standards and best practices for user experience (which we are constantly struggling with due the massive amounts of information on our site that is constantly changing).
• Developing content governance standards to maintain accuracy and consistency.
• Collaborating with program staff to update outdated information and create customer-focused content.
• Supporting implementation of website enhancements and digital service initiatives.

The Department’s website is often the first point of contact for residents seeking information or services. Many existing webpages require modernization to align with current digital standards and customer expectations. A dedicated Website Content Officer will improve the user experience, reduce customer frustration, increase self-service utilization, and support the agency’s broader digital transformation goals.

• Support expanded public outreach, targeted marketing campaigns and messaging for agency programs and initiatives containing diverse subject matter, through development and creation of digital graphics to be used in social and digital media campaigns for website and other digital communications.
• Consistently and accurately apply agency branding, design guidelines regarding logos, color themes and other creative aspects across all platforms.
• Update existing agency marketing materials to ensure they are accurate, current, and visually attractive.
• Create content for graphic design projects for web and social media platforms
• Work on projects with high visibility and technical sophistication that are Executive Staff priorities.
• Determine priorities and manage workflow to ensure production requirements and deadlines are met.
• Creatively suggest design ideas for agency driven media campaigns on websites and social media platforms.
• Collaborate with other PIO staff (Communications and Marketing focus) on final work products.

Qualifications:

NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Six years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications.

Substitutions: Associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in graphics for digital projects, creating custom pieces for print, e-mail, web, and social media.
• Experience with Adobe After Effects and Cinema 4D is highly desirable.
• Ability to meet deadlines and have a collaborative attitude.
