The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The Park Worker 3 will report directly to the Park Manager 2, SG-21 and will be assigned to Allan Treman State Park. Duties may include, but are not limited to: • Operate and maintain heavy equipment and vehicles, including trucks, loaders, tractors, trailers, mowers, boats and power tools.• Supervise, train, and provide direction to lower-level staff and volunteers.• Assist with emergency response activities, including spill containment.• Oversee and enforce applicable safety regulations and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).• Coordinate work assignments with regional supervisors and park managers.• Assist with landscaping tasks, including planting, pruning, mowing, trail work and general groundskeeping.• Clean up and compost dog waste at large off leash dog park.• Perform manual labor, including lifting up to 80 pounds, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods in hot, cold, or wet weather conditions.• Inspect and maintain areas to ensure they are clean and safe for public use, including trash collection, restroom maintenance, and perform minor repairs. Report any issues or concerns to supervisory staff.• May perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks such as carpentry tasks (minor wood replacement and building repairs), plumbing tasks (faucet changing and bathroom winterizing), electrical tasks (changing switches and light fixtures, light bulbs, and breakers), masonry tasks (pouring sidewalks and pads), and mechanical repairs (oil changes, sharpening blades, replacing belts and hoses).• Provide excellent customer service to park visitors, answering questions, providing information, and ensuring a positive experience. • Participate in the setup and breakdown of park events and activities.• Under direction of Park Manager, conduct audits of marina slips and boat launch, record data in Reserve America, and assist in sales of passes and boat slips.• Perform snow and ice removal during the winter months. • Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment used, and materials consumed.• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.• Operate regional vehicles for various projects as needed. • Assist in emergency situations by applying emergency procedures and practices, assisting and directing staff, and working with patrons to minimize potential problems.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a park, historic site, golf course, or recreational facility;OR - One year of experience in any of the following fields: • Law enforcement or security• Firefighting• Emergency Medical Services • Environmental education or stewardship• Natural resources management (e.g., forest management, wildlife management/preservation)• Historic preservation or interpretation• Landscaping or grounds maintenance OR - One year of military service in any branch of the United States Armed Forces;OR - Thirty (30) semester credit hours* of college-level coursework from an accredited college or university;OR - Completion of a two-year technical/trades school program;OR - Two years of experience as a trade assistant working under the direct supervision of a skilled tradesperson.*Your credit hours must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.
