The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications *This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). (*Please see below for further information).Eligible for transfer or meet the following minimum qualifications: Open-Competitive minimum qualifications: Either 1. a master’s or higher degree in health care administration, health care management, health services administration, public health,* nursing, hospital administration, hospital management, business administration, public administration, epidemiology, biomedical sciences, psychology, biology, chemistry, psychology; and three years of experience as an administrator involved in the management and oversight of the delivery of health services.At least one year of the experience must include performing one or more of the following: supervision of subordinate staff, direct oversight, or management.Or 2. a bachelor’s degree in health care administration, health care management, health services administration, public health,* nursing, hospital administration, hospital management, business administration, public administration, epidemiology, biomedical sciences, psychology, biology, chemistry, psychology; and four years of experience asan administrator involved in the management and oversight of the delivery of health services.At least one year of the experience must include performing one or more of the following: supervision of subordinate staff, direct oversight, or management.*A degree in public health education is NOT qualifying.Examples of Non-Qualifying Experience: Experience as a Food Service Administrator or Registered Dietician is NOT qualifying.For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to complete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
