The New Mexico (NM) Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program, Department of Health and Food and Nutrition Bureau safeguards the health of nutritionally at-risk low-income pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infant, children and seniors by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, nutrition information for healthy eating, health counseling, breastfeeding support, nutrition classes, cooking classes, and referrals to health care providers and social services.
Why does the job exist?
This position provides financial and administrative support to the NM WIC State office that includes the Nutrition Services, Breastfeeding Promotion, WIC and Senior Farmers Market Programs and WIC Regional field staff.
How does it get done?
The purpose of the position is to serve as part of the WIC State Office Finance team, which encompass an annual budget of approximately $57 million. The position's responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting with procurement by obtaining quotes, obtaining determinations from State Purchasing and Horizons of New Mexico, preparing purchase orders, change orders, payment vouchers, operating transfers, maintenance contracts and other vendor services. This position will be the Regional backup for purchases and accounts payables. Submit daily ACH reconciliation (1st review). Ensure monthly rebate invoice is generated with appropriate backup documentation and approved by Finance Manager or Director prior to submitting to Rebate Manufacture. Update
rebate module with submittal date and date reimbursement is received with amount posted on General Ledger.

Minimum Qualification
High School or Equivalency and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Extended periods of driving and the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds may be required. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and moderate office noise, heat, cold, and smells. Some travel with occasional overnight stay may be required.
