Why does the job exist?

The Supervisor, Program Management / Work and Family Support Bureau Chief will:

Provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the Work and Family Support Bureau to ensure the effective administration of state and federally funded programs that support New Mexico families;

Oversee the planning, implementation, fiscal management, and compliance of programs including the New Mexico Works (NMW) Program contract, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Support Services contracts, Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), Refugee Resettlement Program (RRP), SNAP Employment and Training (EandT), and other legislative appropriations and government service agreements;

Ensure programs operate in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and department procedures while maintaining fiscal accountability and program integrity;

Direct bureau operations, supervise staff, coordinate cross-agency initiatives, and provide leadership to ensure programs are administered efficiently, effectively, and in support of the Income Support Division's mission.

The Supervisor, Program Management / Work and Family Support Bureau Chief is responsible for:

Providing executive leadership and oversight to ensure the consistent administration of Work and Family Support Bureau programs in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and procedures;

Directing bureau operations, fiscal management, contract administration, and staff development while ensuring program integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Community Action Agencies;

State and Federal partners;

Health Care Authority (HCA) staff.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of professional level experience with a tactical impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling ten (10) years may substitute for the required education and experience
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.

Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some in state and out of state travel may be required.
