Why does the job exist?
The position exists to support the Health Services Bureau in it mission to identify and investigate potential fraudulent activities within the medical vendor management program. The position is to oversee the monitoring of the medical contract between NMCD and the medical vendors. This role is crucial in analyzing invoices and claims data to uncover patterns and instances that may indicate violations of state and federal rules, regulations, and laws. By applying both rule-based approaches and other creative techniques, the position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and proper utilization of medical service funds by vendors. This position will also have responsibility to actively participate in the implementation of a New Electronic Health Record system for incarcerated population health services. The incumbent will need to be knowledgeable in IT process and be able to conduct EHR compliance related tasks.
How does it get done?
The position examines, evaluates, and investigates the accuracy of data submitted by medical vendors in administrative reports and invoices for conformity with contract language, various Acts, laws and regulations. Including compliance with reporting requirements, permits, orders and other administrative compliance and enforcement inspection as needed. Duties may vary widely depending on the administrative issues that need to be addressed. This includes review of prospective hire licensing data, review of medical and nursing licenses from applicants the medical vendor wants to hire. Review of death reports and compiling internal reports to track death incidents. Review of EHR administrative logs and analyze authorized access compliance and develop reporting of data. Responsible for all compliance matters which are non-medical or nursing procedure related.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, and/or contract compliance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of Federal and State law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
