Due to the available budget allocated for this position, the hiring rate will not exceed $36.90 per hour.
Why does the job exist?
The incumbent will be responsible for the management of classification coordinators; classification training; and facility oversight.
How does it get done?
Nine (9) years of experience in corrections and/or law enforcement, the identification of gang members, gang activity, trends, and gang interdiction initiatives or in supervision of high risk offenders. Experience in the areas of social work and/or guidance and counseling may substitute for up to three (3) years of the required experience in corrections and/or law enforcement. A degree in any field from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
Employment Requirements
This position is designed safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing in accordance with all terms and conditions of Federal and State law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Pre-employment background investigation is required and employment is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime holidays, and weekends.

- Monitor classification actions and assure the client tracking database entries are reviewed, accurate and updated for appropriate timely action
- Respond to all facility inquiries, inspection of public records, and inmate correspondence
- Ensure proper custody level transports for safety and security
- Supervise staff and program
- Oversee facility daily count for accuracy
- Monitor, review, and route all good time awards and forfeitures for timeliness
