Why does the job exist?

The purpose of this position is to process all documents that are received in the SOS Business Services Division, to provide support to lower classifications of compliance officers, and to provide ongoing process evaluation. This position is responsible for records management, and IPRA requests for the Business Services Division and admin support, as necessary, as well as other duties as assigned.
How does it get done?

This is a high-level position that requires strong working knowledge of numerous statutes, acts, rules, and regulations both those administered by this office and those overseen by other government agencies such as the IRS, the Taxation and Revenue Department, and the Public Regulation Commission. The office interacts regularly with members of the public and provides assistance in determining appropriate business structures and identifying resources to support their business needs.

The role involves processing a wide variety of transactions each day typically upward of 80 documents and requires the ability to multitask, stay organized, and maintain a high level of productivity. The position also provides backup support for the reception area, including phone coverage during lunches, breaks, or receptionist absences.

This role is responsible for maintaining Business Services records and coordinating with the Office Records Liaison on archiving activities. It also assists in researching and providing records in response to Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) requests.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, and/or contract compliance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions

Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer, microfilm machine and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
