Why does the job exist?
This job contributes to the agency by managing the accounting activities and providing direction to the staff of the General Ledger Bureau to ensure quality accounting data is produced to ensure management intent is followed in accordance with State and Federal laws as well as DFA, MAPs, GAAP, and GASB requirements.
How does it get done?
General Leger Manager Responsibilities:
¿ Leads general ledger team¿two (2) Full Time Equivalent (FTE) employees
¿ Prepare and analyze financial statements, accounting records, notes, schedules and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and compliance with:
o New Mexico State Audit Rule
o Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP)
o Governmental Auditing Standards (GAS),
o Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB),
o Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)
Who are the customers?
Customers include Office of the Secretary, Administrative Services Division, Enterprise Services, Compliance and Project Management, the Office of Broadband Access and Expansion, the Office of Cybersecurity, and external customers.
Ideal Candidate
Customers include Office of the Secretary, Administrative Services Division, Enterprise Services, Compliance and Project Management, the Office of Broadband Access and Expansion, the Office of Cybersecurity, and external customers.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and four (4) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, preparing Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports, and conducting financial audits. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Pre-employment background investigation is required and employment is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Office Setting, exposure to Visual Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting.
