College and Career Readiness Bureau (CCRB):
Our Mission
The College and Career Readiness Bureau (CCRB) of the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) is dedicated to providing New Mexico students with an educational foundation that takes them from primary school through secondary and postsecondary studies. This foundation encourages exploration and achievement in academic, career and technical education.

Integrating academic and work-ready skills prepares our students for the rigorous demands of college and careers. New Mexico's economic development directly depends on the educational development of our students. Our bureau provides leadership for the state's college and career readiness system.

Our programs prepare students to enter the workforce with the academic and technical skills needed to be successful in the job market. College and career readiness is the unifying force in P-20 education that propels students from a solid foundation of early and secondary learning into rigorous career and technical education programs and college completion goals.
Why does the job exist?

The primary work includes providing leadership, technical assistance, training and direction to school districts and other educational entities regarding the work of the College and Career Readiness Bureau. Plan, direct, evaluate, coordinate and provide oversight for the statewide College and Career Readiness initiatives, especially graduation requirements, next step plans, graduate profiles, and school counselor programs. Provide coaching to educational entities in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality Career Technical Education, including state and federal grant management.
How does it get done?

Job Assignment #1: Leadership (25%). Provide bureau-aligned leadership for all assigned responsibilities that empowers educational entities to drive College and Career Readiness best practices. Actively engage with, champion, and drive continual collaborative improvement efforts on the state level that emphasize quality, accountability and improved student outcomes.

Job Assignment #2: Technical Assistance (50%). Develop and disseminate effective and research-based technical assistance,
frameworks, documents, presentations and facilitated meetings for assigned programs that allow participants to effectively manage requirements, including timelines, processes, and procedures. Follow Public Education Department (PED) Standards for Excellence and federal rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration, or Business Administration and four (4) years of experience as a teacher and/or program administrator. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.

Bargaining Unit Position

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
