The New Hampshire Veterans has a full-time, 1st shift, vacancy for a Registered Nurse I-III in Admissions.

Proposed Schedule Includes:

7:30am - 4:00pm shifts (Monday - Friday)

Summary:

RN I

To perform general nursing duties in the care and treatment of residents at the New Hampshire Veteran’s Home; observes, compiles, and reports information concerning the wellbeing, care, and treatment of residents in order to ensure quality care is provided at all times.

RN II

To perform general nursing duties in the care and treatment of residents at the New Hampshire Veteran’s Home. Applies professional quality nursing standards of care when treating and making recommendations for residents’ with regards to wellness, healthcare, and treatment plans.

RN III

To provide care and treatment for residents in a long-term care facility setting, with responsibility for administration of medication, comprehensive medical treatment/care planning, and/or ongoing oversight and training of RNI and II nursing staff in accordance with policies, procedures and nursing standards of practice at the New Hampshire Veteran’s Home.

Your Experience Counts

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Minimum Qualifications:

RN I

Education: Graduation from a recognized nursing program with either affiliate or postgraduate courses and clinical experience in medical, surgical, obstetrics, pediatrics, and psychiatric nursing.

Experience: Experience is limited to that required for registration.

License/Certification: Current license as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire .

RN II

Education: Graduation from a recognized nursing program with either affiliate or postgraduate courses and clinical experience in medical, surgical, obstetrics, pediatrics, and psychiatric nursing.

Experience: One year's experience as a registered nurse in a residential, nursing home, long-term care facility, or similar setting.

License/Certification: Current license as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire .

RN III

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in nursing, human services, psychology, or a related field.

Experience: One year of experience as a registered nurse in a residential, nursing home, long-term care facility, or similar setting.

OR

Education: Graduation from a recognized nursing program and possession of an Associate’s degree in nursing, human services, psychology, or a related field.

Experience: Two years' experience as a registered nurse in a residential, nursing home, long-term care facility, or similar setting.

AND

License/Certification:

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire.
  • Current certification in CPR.
  • Must be certified by the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying entity in psychiatric and mental health nursing, Gerontological nursing, wound care, or a specialty related to long term nursing care.
Responsibilities:

RN I

  • Applies nursing process techniques required in the evaluation, care, and implementation of treatment plans for residents, ensuring physical and/or emotional needs are addressed and facility policies and procedures are followed.
  • Observes, records, and reports signs, symptoms and progress of residents’ medical treatment and care plans utilizing the facility’s documentation system and makes recommendations concerning changes or modifications of treatment as needed to appropriate medical personnel.
  • Interacts cooperatively with other nursing staff, health care professionals, and medical/therapeutic disciplines within the facility, in order to meet treatment care plans, health needs, and goals of residents; communicates information to the treatment team or supervisor as necessary.
  • Performs specialized nursing tasks such as exchange of oxygen tanks, preparation and verification of medicine and pharmacy orders, and observing that medical equipment is appropriately functioning; alerts supervisor or appropriate personnel if equipment needs to be repaired/replaced.
  • Participates in preparing treatment plans and providing therapeutic activity such as daily living activities, personal hygiene, and addressing resident’s individual care goals.
  • Monitors the activities of the licensed practical nurses or nursing support staff to ensure equality of services rendered.
  • Provides auxiliary nursing personnel with in-service training in the care of patients and participates in the orientation of new staff.
  • Ensures compliance with established department policies and procedures by maintaining competency in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques.
RN II

  • Applies nursing process techniques required in the evaluation, care, and implementation of treatment plans for residents, ensuring physical and/or emotional needs are addressed and facility policies and procedures are followed.
  • Observes, records, and reports signs, symptoms and progress of residents’ medical treatment and care plans utilizing the facility’s documentation system, and modifies treatment plans based on resident’s response, medical changes, and/or doctor’s orders.
  • Coordinates with other health care providers and medical/therapeutic disciplines within the facility to ensure individualized treatment and care plans for residents are being followed. Prepares nursing assessments and implements treatment plans, delegating appropriate aspects of care to auxiliary nursing personnel.
  • Monitors the nursing care of RN I, less-skilled nursing staff, or healthcare personnel; provides in-service training in the care of patients and participates in the orientation of new staff.
  • Performs specialized nursing tasks such as dispensation/tracking of medications, exchange of oxygen tanks, preparation and verification of medicine and pharmacy orders, and observing that medical equipment is appropriately functioning; alerts Nurse Coordinator or appropriate personnel if equipment needs to be repaired/replaced.
  • Provides assistance with therapeutic activities such as daily living activities, personal hygiene, and addressing resident’s individual care goals.
  • Prepares residents for and assist with examinations or treatments; e valuates resident’s condition and notifies doctor, medical, or therapy personnel when necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with established department policies and procedures by maintaining competency in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques.
RN III

  • Applies nursing process techniques in the care, evaluation, and treatment of residents with a variety of diagnoses; ensures that physical and/or emotional needs are addressed and facility policies and procedures are followed.
  • Works with Nursing Supervisor and meets with care-plan team to develop and implement individualized resident treatment care plans, encompassing medical, wellness, and therapeutic activities as applicable, and delegates appropriate aspects of care to subordinate professional nursing staff and/or auxiliary nursing personnel.
  • Performs specialized nursing tasks such as dispensation/tracking of medications, exchange of oxygen tanks, preparation and verification of medicine and pharmacy orders, and observing that medical equipment is appropriately functioning; alerts Nurse Coordinator or appropriate personnel if equipment needs to be repaired/replaced.
  • Prepares residents for and assist with examinations or treatments; e valuates resident’s condition and notifies doctor, medical, or therapy personnel when necessary.
  • Monitors resident outcomes or effectiveness of care and treatment regimes, and communicates complex information to the care planning team, Nurse Coordinator, Director of Nursing, or appropriate personnel.
  • Writes annual nursing assessments and monthly summaries, mentors and oversees less skilled nursing staff and participates in new employee orientation as well as NH Veteran’s Home Nursing Policy and Procedure meetings.
  • Observes, records, and reports signs, symptoms and progress of residents’ medical treatment and care plans utilizing the facility’s documentation system and makes recommendations concerning changes or modifications of treatment as needed to appropriate medical personnel.
  • Ensures compliance with established department policies and procedures by maintaining competency in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques.
