The Nevada Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking a dynamic and impact-driven leader to serve as the Division Administrator for the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).  This an unclassified position located in Carson City, Nevada. Operating as the state’s federally recognized Highway Safety Office, OTS drives the programs, policies, and partnerships that safeguard millions of motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists across Nevada. Under the direction of the Deputy Director, the Division Administrator oversees the complete modernization and execution of Nevada's traffic safety network. Managing a highly complex, technical ecosystem of federal grants, public advocacy, and critical data infrastructure, the Administrator holds the authority to shape long-range statewide policies aligned with the Governor's ultimate vision: Zero Fatalities.

The incoming Division Administrator will directly command resources and personnel to fulfill the Office of Traffic Safety’s statutory pillars:

  • Drive Localized Innovation: Cultivate and fund trailblazing traffic safety projects at state and local levels. You will enhance motorist awareness, upgrade roadway environments, refine data collection networks, and boost law enforcement and emergency responses to aggressively reduce public highway crashes.
  • Champion Universal Road Safety: Engineer and manage comprehensive, statewide education initiatives ensuring safe mobility for all road users, explicitly focusing on vulnerable communities like pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • Elevate Motorcycle Safety Networks: Administer Nevada's flagship motorcycle training and safety program. This includes securing optimal training infrastructure, conducting advanced instructor development workshops, minimizing rider fatalities, and maximizing shared-road motorcycle awareness.    

Five years professional experience in developing, implementing, and managing programs and/or projects on a Statewide and/or federal level which included budgeting; and contract management and/or grant development and oversight experience, one year of which included supervisory responsibility over professional and administrative staff.

• Federal Resource Management: Administer federal and state grant portfolios funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), and key state partnerships.

 • Lead Authority on Impaired Driving: Serve as the principal advisor to the DPS Director and act as Nevada's ultimate subject matter expert on impaired driving policies, countermeasures, and enforcement strategies.   

• Coalition & Task Force Leadership: Collaborate with the Nevada Executive Committee on Traffic Safety (NECTS) to orchestrate legislative and policy adjustments, tackle Critical Emphasis Areas, and guide regional task forces.

 • Executive Mentorship: Direct, optimize, and supervise professional and supervisory staff within the Division, building a high-performance culture focused on analytics and community impact.

Salary : $116,903 - $135,201
