The Diviion of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Deputy Division Administrator for Children’s Mental Health. This position is responsible for the leadership, direction, administration, and oversight of the Division's children's mental and behavioral health services. DCFS provides a comprehensive array of mental health services using a strengths-based approach that respects family decision-making and honors the family's cultural values and practices. DCFS' mental health programs include community-based outpatient services and residential programs. Current programs include Wraparound in Nevada (WIN), Mobile Crises Response Team, Intensive In-Home Clinical Team, Early Childhood Mental Health, Children's Clinical Services, Day Treatment, Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) North (CARF Accredited) and Desert Willow Treatment Center (Joint Commission Accredited). This position also oversees System of Care work. This is an unclassified position within Nevada State Government and is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Administrator of the Division of Child and Family Services.
The preferred candidate will have: a minimum of 3 years successful management and leadership experience with a comprehensive children's mental health program; demonstrated knowledge and experience in the law, treatment modalities and principles related to children's mental and behavioral health; program planning, development and evaluation experience; public administration experience to include policy development and administration of a complex budget; familiarity with the legislative process to include working cooperatively with legislators and supporting legislation, programs and budgets before legislative committees; and a history of collaborating with governmental and private entities and families to develop and implement programs and services.
A Bachelor's degree or Master's degree with major course work in social work, psychology, criminal justice, business administration, public administration, the law or other field related to health and human services is preferred.
The position provides broad oversight of children's mental health services, including outpatient and inpatient services, ensures mental health and behavioral health services are high quality and coordinated to serve the highest needs of youth in the Division's child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and works with local communities to determine community needs and develop plans to meet those needs. This position is responsible for quality assurance and legislative compliance and manages a staff of approximately 350 professionals.
The ideal candidate should have: a working understanding of the law related to children's mental health, child welfare and juvenile justice; the ability to manage resources in a coordinated way to ensure needs of the Division and the children's mental health system are met; the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with community partners and elected officials, including meeting the expectations of courts; and the ability to manage stress well in a fast-paced, intense environment.
