Job Description
Nebraska Game & Parks is seeking a physically driven and quality motivated individual to join our maintenance staff at our Lincoln Office. If you love working with your hands, and enjoy being physically active, then come work for the best agency in the state of Nebraska!
As a Maintenance Technician you will get the opportunity to work alongside many of our agency’s’ dedicated employees and experience the great work life culture that Nebraska Game & Parks Commission has to offer.
Pay Range: 16.520 - 24.353
Pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved.
This position is an assistant to the maintenance supervisor and will be required to be “on call” when scheduled. The position is “non-exempt” which means it is overtime eligible.
A Class “O” (operators) Driver’s License with a good driving record will be required for this position.
The work is an entry-level to semi-skilled building maintenance laborer or tradesperson in the performance of apprentice-level facility maintenance activities, routine grounds maintenance, and custodial/janitorial or housekeeping work. Work is typically labor intensive and requires close-to general supervision in the areas of building maintenance and repair work. Positions at this level receive verbal instruction to properly accomplish or organize tasks. Decision-making authorities are limited to selection of tools or equipment and determining the organization and sequence of separate work tasks.
Requirements/ Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: No specific education, training, or experience is required for entry to this class.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in facility maintenance.

Knowledge Of
- The standard use, maintenance and safety practices associated with hand tools, power tools and light equipment
- Building and mechanical trade methods, practices and procedures
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions followed in building maintenance operations
- Grounds maintenance and horticultural practices
- Safe use of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides
- Commercial cleaning practices, equipment, supplies and techniques
- Hand tools, power tools and building maintenance equipment
- Basic office and computer equipment including the use of email and Excel forms
- Communicate effectively
- Understand, and follow instructions
- Read, and comprehend blueprints, reference books and equipment manuals
- Utilize and maintain hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely
- Climb ladders and scaffolding to perform work above ground level
