Maintenance Technician

JOB SUMMARY:  Maintains and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe and electrical systems and grounds by carrying out established preventive maintenance programs and work schedules by performing the following duties.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

1. Adheres to Brodstone Healthcare’s Mission, Vision and Values.

3. Performs routine tasks such as trash removal, changing light bulbs
4. Maintains log of meter and gauge readings such as, refrigeration & freezer readings, electricity and fuel consumed.
5. Visually inspects machinery and equipment while performing daily duties.
6. Observes and listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair.
7. Tests boiler and city water and records data.  Prepares chemicals for boilers and closed loop.
8. Carries out scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance procedures and maintenance requests.
9. Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
10. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery.
11. Reads blueprints, sketches, machine parts or specifications to determine locations, dimensions, adjustment, parts needed or calibration.
12. Assists with the installation and repair of electrical apparatus, such as wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
13. Troubleshoots and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components.
14. Is able to perform electrical safety checks using established procedures.
15. May be required to operate computer to process work orders and monitor energy management system
16. Assembles, installs and maintains pipe systems and related electronic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
17. Sets up and operates machine tools such as grinder, drill and saws or other machines to repair or fabricate parts, fixtures and tools.
18. Repairs and installs counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework and trim.
19. Replaces damaged ceiling tile, floor tile and wall coverings.
20. Cuts lawns, trims edges around sidewalks, flower beds and walls.
21. Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches or twigs.
22. Sprays lawn, shrubs and trees with fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides.  Rakes and bags leaves.
23. Plants grass, trees and flowers.  Waters lawn by proper setting of underground sprinkler system.  Waters shrubs with garden hose as needed.
24. Cleans grounds and removes litter.
25. Shovels and uses snow blower, skid steer, or other equipment to remove snow from walks and driveway areas.
26. Spreads ice melt or sand on public passage ways to prevent ice buildup.
27. Repairs walls and walks.  Repairs and paints building exteriors.
28. Keeps work tools sharpened and cleaned.
29. Cleans work area, machines, tools and equipment.
30. Assists with carrying or moving patients when called upon.
31. Assist with carrying supplies from one department to another department.
32. Performs trash removal and waste disposal according to established procedures.
33. Records work performed on appropriate forms and work orders.
34. Checks on availability of adequate materials and supplies when performing duties.
35. Maintains and submits required records and associated reports.
36. Coordinates maintenance of safe and satisfactory working conditions for the staff.
37. Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, Brodstone Healthcare quality improvement program, etc.
38. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

• Required
  • GED or High School Diploma

EXPERIENCE:

• Required
  • 1-2 years of experience in maintenance operations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISRATIONS:

• Valid Driver's License
