This position is being announced at both the Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapist Senior levels. The final classification will depend on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Our Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Hospital (CABHH) in Willmar, MN is seeking a talented, mission driven, person-centered Occupational Therapist to join our team and make a difference in the lives of others. We provide mental health services for children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 6-18) with serious behavioral and emotional conditions.

Job duties include:

  • Working collaboratively with the rehabilitation director and other CABHH occupational therapists to bring evidence-based, innovative occupational therapy services to the program. Environment offers limitless possibilities, including use of a designated sensory room, use of secure outdoor courtyards, and indoor gross motor activity space.
  • Plans and implements occupational therapy interventions based on the assessment, evaluation, client goals, current best practice and clinical reasoning. Services will focus on specialized interventions that build skills and motivation for recovery and relapse prevention. Examples include: use of music, drumming, yoga, art, sensory strategies, animal assisted interventions, and more.
  • Team support to help staff adapt to individual needs and modify the environment to enhance learning and client engagement in treatment.
  • Documentation of all occupational therapy services provided is completed per policy & procedure.
  • Evaluates the functional abilities and occupational participation of clients using a variety of standardized and non-standardized tests.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must be licensed to practice occupational therapy in the state of Minnesota; OR be currently licensed to practice occupational therapy in another state and must obtain licensure in Minnesota prior to appointment.

In addition, you must satisfy one of the following combinations of education and experience:

Occupational Therapist:

  • Have Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program;

Occupational Therapist Senior:

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program; AND
  • At least 18 months of professional, post-licensure occupational therapy experience

OR

  • Have Master's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program;
  • At least 6 months of professional, post-licensure occupational therapy experience

OR

  • Have a Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with children and adolescents in an inpatient or residential mental health setting.
  • Advanced training or certification in sensory processing strategies, trauma-informed care, or specialized modalities (e.g., Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, yoga, music, or art-based interventions).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and adapt therapeutic environments for complex behavioral needs.

Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) healthcare facilities require employees to provide documentation that they are free from tuberculosis (TB) through a blood test prior to employment. DCT does not accept TB skin testing.
