Minnesota Specialty Health System (MSHS) in Wadena is seeking a talented, mission driven, person-centered Office & Administrative Specialist, Intermediate to join our team. As an Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) facility, MSHS Wadena focuses on rehabilitative education, building interpersonal skills, and developing community engagement skills to increase each client’s independence and self-management of their illness, behavior, and emotion.

This position is responsible for performing clerical tasks that are essential to maintaining efficient program operations. This includes managing patient medical records, organizing written materials, and preparing reports using multiple procedures, including computers and other technical equipment. In addition, this position supports the operations of the facility overall through personal initiative, positive attitude, cooperation, and good work habits.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Accounting/Budgeting/Expense skills sufficient to order office supplies and manage office invoices.
  • Communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate with the team.
  • Customer service skills sufficient to provide information to clients, including phone calls and walk-in contacts in helpful and courteous manner.
  • Data entry skills sufficient to create database records and update entries or create and apply the basics of spreadsheets and retrieve information from databases.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license to transport clients according to their treatment plan as needed.
  • English language skills sufficient to communicate clearly in verbal and written communication and to write and edit a variety of documents in English using correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Spreadsheets skills sufficient to develop and modify basic spreadsheets, and sort and extract data.
  • Typing/keyboarding skills sufficient to take meeting minutes, complete a variety of reports, letters, and data summaries.
  • Word processing skills sufficient to develop and modify a variety of correspondence, records, and reports; perform mail merges, develop forms and charts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with de-escalation
  • Experience with creating EIORS
  • ASL and/or multilingual skills
  • Previous work experience in an IRTS facility or with individuals with a diagnosis of mental illness or substance abuse
