Job Summary

** The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.

This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

This position provides professional planning support and analysis to various areas of the Office of Transportation System Management related to asset management, performance measures, and capital investments. Work will include development of the Transportation Asset Management Plan (TAMP), the 10-year Capital Highway Investment Plan (CHIP), 20-year Minnesota State Highway Investment Plan (MnSHIP), and other related planning studies, capital programs, and performance reports. This position will also support research, analysis, and outreach in support of agency initiatives to advance performance-based planning and capital investment planning.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Sociology or Political Science

OR One year of professional transportation planning experience.

The applicant must also demonstrate the following abilities:

  • Experience writing, editing and organizing material from diverse sources.
  • Experience preparing professional written communication in plain language.
  • Experience working as a member of an interdisciplinary and/or intergovernmental team
  • Experience in the theory and practice of transportation planning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Adobe InDesign.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems software.
