Job Summary
Minnesota IT Services partnering with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (MNIT DCYF), is seeking highly skilled and motivated IT Quality Assurance Analyst to join our team.
As an IT Advanced Quality Analyst/Tester, you will bring advanced expertise in software testing and quality assurance, ensuring the quality and functionality of application systems. You will work on complex tasks under some direction and guidance, promoting best practices in testing and collaborating with senior team members to manage software defects, and ensure high-quality coding and execution.
This position requires an employee to be onsite at 444 Lafayette Rd, St. Pau, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Telework for Minnesota IT Services is available on a limited basis.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficiency in conducting manual and automated regression, system, and project-related testing, applying analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, investigate, and validate functionality, performance, and overall software quality issues.
- Experience creating automation scripts using Rational Functional Tester (RFT), Java, Selenium, and/or comparable toolsets.
- Developing core QA artifacts including test strategies, test plans, test cases, test data, test reports, and test closure documentation.
- Reviewing business and functional requirements and application designs to ensure quality alignment and adequate test coverage throughout the development lifecycle.
- Ability to lead and coordinate QA efforts, including planning test approaches, scheduling testing activities, and ensuring alignment with test plans, project milestones, and release timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
- Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior QA team members, including assisting with test planning, execution, and prioritization of testing activities.
- Experience using SQL or similar query languages to validate data, support test scenarios, and verify results across databases, client-server, and web-based applications.
- Experience supporting defect management and resolution, including facilitating or participating in defect triage discussions with technical and business stakeholders.
- Understanding of workflow-based applications and experience testing systems within healthcare, human services, or government IT environments.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of or experience using performance and load testing tools such as Rational Performance Tester (RPT), LoadRunner, and/or comparable toolsets.
- Experience performing cross-browser and cross-platform testing using tools such as BitBar, BrowserStack, and/or comparable solutions.
