Job Summary
As the IT Advanced Quality Analyst/Tester you will provide professional knowledge and skills in information systems software testing, quality assurance and quality control of application software and systems. This includes the quality of the coding itself and not just the outcome of the application execution. This position promotes appropriate testing methodologies, striving to identify and manage defects in the software systems. At this level you possess advanced expertise, and duties performed by this position are complex, and of a smaller scope than those led by senior Quality Assurance Analysis/Testing staff (ITS5). The QA staff at this level require some direction, coaching, and mentoring when leading the quality assurance/analysis for projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in performing IT quality analysis functions designing, developing, and executing automated test scripts to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications.
Experience must include:
- Creating business relevant artifacts: test strategies, test plans, test cases and data, test reports, and test closure documents.
- Extensive experience with API automation tools (e.g., Postman, RestAussurd)
- Coordinating test schedules and assisting in management of progress of all test activities against the test plan/release schedule.
- Experience in scripting/programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, VB Script, C#) in creating project regression, and system testing automation script.
- Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
- Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with agile software development methodology
- Experience leading the manual and automated Quality Assurance effort on projects
- Experience with programming script languages including Java and VBScript
- Experience in writing complex SQL queries, ability to determine the types of testing that must be conducted (i.e., data validation, regression, etc.), including evaluating the testability of requirements and create a comprehensive test plan that supports the business and technological solutions being delivered. ETL testing experience/background is bonus.
- Proficiency in testing APIs/services (REST and SOAP) using SoapUI, Postman or equivalent tools.
- 5 years of experience with API automation tools (e.g., Postman, RestAssured) and experience in scripting/programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, VB Script, C#) in creating project regression and system testing automation scripts.
