Job Summary

Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking an individual to join our DCT Health Information Management Services (HIMS) Team for an exciting and rewarding opportunity as a HIMS Records Supervisor! This position will supervise, manage and have oversight of records management and release of information.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing oversight and direction to HIMS department staff.
  • Oversee and direct the release of information process across DCT programs, ensuring compliance with data privacy and security laws and regulations.
  • Establish policies and provide staff education to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Direct operations related to the storage of paper records and the digitization of documents into the electronic health record, ensuring information is accurately captured and accessible.
  • Serve as an advisor regarding health information management to maximize capabilities of end users.

This position requires an employee to be onsite at Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center, Anoka, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.

  • Telework is available on a limited basis.
  • Only candidates residing in Minnesota or a state bordering Minnesota (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) within 50 miles of the work address listed above are eligible for telework.
  • Candidates residing in Minnesota and more than 50 miles from the primary/principal work address above may be eligible to telework more than 50%.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA, formerly the American Medical Records Association)

AND

Two (2) years of professional experience as a Certified Registered Health Information Administrator or Registered Health Information Technician that demonstrates the following:

  • Application of medical record and health information management principles and practices for health care facilities, records management and information systems.
  • Thorough understanding, interpretation, and application of State, Federal laws, rules and regulations and accreditation and licensing requirements related to record and health information management, court orders, and data privacy, access, and release of information.
  • Functional transition to an electronic health record and the core Health Information Management functions including document management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory or other leadership experience OR completion of leadership development program (L4, Emerging Leaders Institute, etc.)
