Education
Education typically acquired through completion of high school
Experience
Departmental Technician 7
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
Departmental Technician 8
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
Departmental Technician E9
One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.
Alternate Education And Experience
Departmental Technician 7
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician E9
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position prior to being appointed to the position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
On-Site Work. This position is not remote work eligible as duties are required to be done onsite.

Fingerprints. This position has access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and requires passing of a fingerprint-based background check per IRS Publication 1075.

Key Responsibilities Include
- Serving as a Departmental Technician for receipting and lockbox functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Reviewing Section processes and procedures and recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assisting with the collection, preparation, and reporting of monthly performance metrics.
- Providing technical assistance and support to Section staff.
- Researching and responding to receipting and payment-related inquiries from internal offices, other Treasury divisions, and external agencies.
- Supporting Departmental Analysts in developing and maintaining forms, documentation, and procedures related to bank processes.
- Communicating professionally—both verbally and in writing—with the lockbox vendor to resolve processing, reconciliation, and technical issues.
- Handling Non-Conforming and Duplicate Image Cash Letter (ICL) rejects and troubleshooting ICL file issues.
- Serving as the primary backup for the Field & District processes.
