Job Description

The Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is seeking an individual to work in public service as an Outreach Coordinator in the Office of Consumer Services. This position is an opportunity to build a lifelong career doing work that truly matters - helping to protect consumers and maintain public confidence in Michigan’s insurance and financial services industries.

The right candidate will support Michigan consumers by developing and implementing educational programs on insurance and financial services, including no-fault automobile insurance. As an Outreach Coordinator, you will serve as the office’s primary resource for consumer education and will work with DIFS’ Office of Communications to draft educational materials and presentations on insurance and financial topics. This role also requires travel to deliver presentations and engage directly with consumers and external stakeholder groups, representing the department and providing clear, accessible information on key issues.

Note: The “Salary” listed above is a range, and the final salary is determined by the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Work Location: This is an in-person position based in Lansing, Michigan, with the possibility of a hybrid work schedule where you would work from home up to three days per week, following a training period if approved.

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

Required Education And Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Departmental Analyst 9

No specific type or amount is required.

Departmental Analyst 10

One year of professional experience.

Departmental Analyst P11

Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.

Alternate Education And Experience

Departmental Analyst 9 - 12

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
