This position serves an entry level analyst in the crime victim compensation program. The position will be responsible for adhering to legislative statute to conduct investigations of submitted documentation, provide financial assistance to victims of crime, and report to the Crime Victim Services Commission. Adjudication of claims will consist of, but not be limited to: review of claim applications, police reports, medical records, employment verification and documentation, medical billings, insurance benefit statements and other documents. The position will be responsible for maintaining contact with the victim and claimant to keep them updated on the status of their claim. The position will also be responsible for drafting written recommendations to either award or deny claims based upon the documentation provided, legislative statute, and other information provided during the investigation. The position will be responsible for developing and introducing recommendations of procedural changes that have policy implications to the program director and commission members.

Required Education And Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major

Experience

Departmental Analyst 9

No specific type or amount is required.

Departmental Analyst 10

One year of professional experience.

Departmental Analyst P11

Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.

Additional Requirements And Information

This position is located at the Grand Tower Building, 235 S. Grand Ave., Lansing, MI, however, this position has the ability to work hybrid (combination of remote and office). Selected candidates who have been approved to work hybrid must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

Responsibilities

Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:

  • A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
  • A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
  • Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.

Certain positions may require a criminal history background check.
