Main Purpose of Job
The Carroll County Health Department is a dynamic public health agency serving a population of 172,891 residents with a wide array of community-based health services and environmental programs. Backed by a dedicated team of�130 professionals and an overall annual budget of over $20 million, we are committed to improving health outcomes and promoting wellness throughout Carroll County, Maryland. The Health Officer plays a key leadership role, working in close collaboration with staff, county and state partners, and community stakeholders to identify public health needs, design effective programs, and ensure compliance with state and local health laws. This role is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the department, guiding policy development, and overseeing program implementation while maintaining sound fiscal and operational practices. We are seeking a forward-thinking, collaborative leader who is passionate about public health and committed to fostering a strong, community-centered health system in Carroll County. Please note that although there are two postings for the Health Officer for Carroll County Health Department (Physician and Non-Physician), only one position is available to be filled.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must possess a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university, a master's degree in public health and have two years experience as a licensed physician working in the field of public health.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Applicants for this classification must be licensed and currently registered with the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State law. A copy of the current license or license number and expiration date must be attached to the application.
