What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter position at State of Louisiana?
This is a full-time position located at the State Museum in New Orleans, LA.
This position prepares and paints buildings and other structures with paint brushes, rollers, or spray applicators in historically significant Museum buildings, the Lower Pontalba apartments, and all related structures that have to be painted.
The Louisiana State Museum’s collections and educational programs stimulate awareness and appreciation of our state’s rich and diverse history and culture.
- Cleans and prepares surfaces to be painted in all Museum buildings including the Lower Pontalba Residential apartments by scraping, sanding, brushing, and dusting.
- Performs other related incidental duties to walls and floors for proper preparation to all surfaces to be painted.
- Determines method of application and applies paint with brushes, rollers, and spray guns to exterior and interior of buildings, exhibit casework and props, and other related surfaces in Museum buildings, including the Lower Pontalba Residential apartments.
- Mixes, thins, and matches paint to professional Museum exhibits’ specifications.
- Performs preventative maintenance to the Lower Pontalba Residential apartments.
- Performs other related work assignments.
Position-Specific Details:
- Appointment Type: This is a probational appointment. Current permanent status state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment.
- Work Schedule: This is a full-time position that reports in-office. This position may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime. This position will be required to travel between Museum locations.
