What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operating Engineer Foreman position at State of Louisiana?
The Operating Engineer Foreman is a supervisory position in charge of the day to day operation of the central utilities plant and associated equipment in all buildings in the Facility Services department. This position requires thorough technical knowledge of the high-pressure boiler system and high voltage chiller/chilled water circulating system. This position is responsible for HVAC, boiler, and chiller operations at LSU Shreveport .
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
For those positions in which incumbents will be working with and handling refrigerants, possession of an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians will be required (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).
- Make recommendations to the Director/Associate Director of Facility Services, on improvements using sound judgment and best practices to evaluate need.
- Make inspections and monitor operations of the ventilating, heating, air conditioning, and other similar machinery and equipment.
- Develop and manage inspection programs.
- Plan shift schedules, routing maintenance, and repair schedules.
- Perform minor emergency repairs as well as other day to day activities such as responding to hot or cold calls, and housekeeping duties.
- Serve as relief when ay other engineer is absent.
- Requisition, inventory, and maintain adequate supplies or materials needed to perform preventive maintenance.
- Keep records of repairs made as well as make recommendation of major component replacements.
