What are the responsibilities and job description for the Museum Curatorial Services Director position at State of Louisiana?
A doctorate degree in museum studies, a humanities field, education, or fine arts plus three years of museum or curatorial experience.

Job Duties:- Generates ideas for long-term and short-term exhibitions that address the audience and interests, and that support the mission and brand of the LSM.
- Manages timelines and budgets for all exhibition projects.
- Directly supervises the Collections, Exhibits, Education staff, and the Museum Historians.
- Oversees the professional management and care of the LSM’s extensive and nationally important collections. This includes guaranteeing that proper cataloging, housing, and conservation procedures are adhered to.
- Must be able to identify strategies for enhancing public access to the collections.
- Establishes, in consultation with the Assistant Secretary, collection policies for collection growth.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Museum.
Position-Specific Details:
- Appointment Type: This is a probational appointment. Current permanent status state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment.
- Work Schedule: This is a full-time position that reports in-office. This position may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime. This position may be required to travel.
