DISTRICT 05 - UNIT 170– Monroe– Ouachita Parish
The overall function of this position is to serve as the Land Technician is working on a survey crew. These positions are located in D05, U170 in Monroe, Ouachita Parish, LA with the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Surveyor 5. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times without supervision or with minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise.
Minimum Qualifications
No experience or training is required.

Job Duties and Other Information
The job duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Contacts property owners along project to advise them of the proposed survey activities and obtains permission to enter upon private property to conduct the survey.
- Works as an instrument man or rodman running levels for the establishment of vertical control marks throughout the project, and ensures that all of the GPS control points are leveled in order to utilize the real kinematic GPS survey system.
- Collection of electronic field survey data based on the three dimensional coordinate system established along the project making sure that sufficient, correct and accurate data is stored to produce an electronic representation of existing topography and digital terrain models.
- Perform property surveys on all private and public property which will be affected by the proposed construction project.
- In the performance of these duties, the technician will operate the following survey equipment and tools: auto-level, total station, GPS, computer, data collector, chains, brush axe, and sharp shooter.

- Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
- Class E Driver’s License
- The position requires drug testing
- Use of surveying equipment such as total stations, levels, data collectors, and GPS instruments
- Use of a personal computer and calculators
- Able to perform physical work and deal with exposer to the outside elements
