BIOLOGIST 1-3 FARM BILL
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is recruiting for two Biologist 1-3 positions. The positions will work directly with Louisiana landowners to implement practices to improve wildlife habitat through the Federal Farm Bill. The incumbent will work closely with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) within the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Service Centers statewide. Multiple office locations are available and will be determined upon selection of candidates. Employees will be LDWF Biologists/Foresters working as part of a cooperative agreement between LDWF and NRCS.
JOB DUTIES
Duties may include some or all of the following:
- Outreach
- Delivery of technical assistance
- Assistance with program sign-up
- Conservation planning
- Implementation assistance
- Contract management and checkouts
POSITION- SPECIFIC DETAILS:
One position will be domiciled in Clinton. Potential domicile for the other position may be one of the following locations and will be determined when the candidate is selected: Jonesville, Marksville, Ferriday, or Alexandria.
Appointment Type: Job appointment, probational appointment, promotional, or detail to special duty.
If filled as a job appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available. Current permanent state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected.
Career Progression: The positions participate in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and is advertised as a Biologist 1, 2, or 3. Physical demands: Moderate to strenuous physical exertion is required for such activities as climbing, lifting objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas or in inclement weather. Weekend work, overnight stay, and early morning departure is required, as well as day and night work in boats and airboats is required.
