Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Responsible for obligation and expenditure records on all state funded accounts. Audits all purchase orders, purchase order vouchers, interfund vouchers, etc. By fund, budget unit, program, account and dollar amount. The accountant I enters into the State-wide accounting system all vouchers, deposits and interfunds for the facility general and fee funds. Gather cost and/or quantity information on specific items purchased, on special projects, utilities or any other statistical data as required by the Public Service Administrator III. Continuously research and provide necessary figures for control of state budget expenditures and obligations. Compile financial data necessary to develop departmental budgets. The incumbent also conducts monthly reconciliations for the Work Release Trust Fund, the Inmate Benefit Fund, and the Employee Wellness Fund.

Minimum Qualifications:

One year of experience in professional accounting/auditing work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Selection Process: Applicants selected for interviews will be evaluated by an interview panel using performance/behavior-based interview questions. The interview panel will make recommendations to Warden for final approval. A second interview may be conducted. Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation; must pass a drug screen and a TB test unless promoting, transferring, or demoting from another safety sensitive position within the same agency; and possess a valid Driver's License.
