Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This Printing Service Specialist position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Bureau of Public Relations. The Printing Service Coordinator supports and participates in agency printing and graphic services for KDOT, including providing criteria for customers/partners from planning, design and construction for all digital reprographic equipment. This position will also provide programming criteria for OCE and Kip scanners plotters and training to appropriate bureau staff.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborates with the lead worker in the print shop to ensure that digitally submitted work requests submitted verbally or through the DOT 1155 are completed, and monitors equipment for possible production failures and alerts the lead print shop worker when appropriate.
  • Formats, adjusts, and corrects document files using a variety of proprietary document builder software as needed, to provide efficient and cost-effective print service delivery.
  • Collaborates with various KDOT partners regarding the benefits and/or cost effectiveness of binding and finishing equipment used for any given publishing project, and evaluates work requests and make suggestions based on his expertise as needed.
  • Produces digital output to various media using document creation software from various software vendors.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in the printing trade or completion of training in a printing apprenticeship.
  • Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in general office, clerical, and administrative support work.
