Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This position provides clerical support to the facility Release Planning Coordinator and Internal Parole Officer, both of which are responsible for coordinating the release of residents into the community at the end of their sentences or as determined by the Prisoner Review Board. This position is tasked with ensuring that all information flows from the facility to the various parole offices for plan investigation and supervision coordination, seamlessly. It is also responsible for communicating with the Kansas Interstate Compact Office to coordinate interstate compact parole and releases. The ultimate goal is to reintegrate the resident back into the public as safely and successfully as possible.


Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and maintains a system for assembling and tracking the release planning steps necessary for preparing a resident for release through a database that enables access to information about the status of the release at each point along the way, and that ensures staff that need the information have it. This includes tracking resident release dates to ensure preparation begins in a timely manner; processing re-entry plans for investigation by parole officers, tracking response times for approval or disapproval of proposed plans; and tracking the status of cases that are pending.
  • Responsible for creation of resident release portfolios, which include release certificates, expungement information, offender registration forms (if applicable), WOTC forms, resources available to resident in the area he is returning and information on Stored Value cards. Schedules meetings with residents who are being released to have them sign all necessary documents pertaining to their release. Meets with residents and explains standards of supervision and answers relevant questions. Notifies appropriate parole field staff/interstate compact staff of resident's release and forwards any other information deemed relevant to the resident's release.
  • Responsible for maintaining office area, including addressing equipment and maintenance issues with appropriate facility staff as necessary, ordering supplies, and generally ensuring the office is stocked and running, this includes answering the main phone line, providing back up on the phone when the IPO is absent/busy, handles inquiries from re-entry staff pertaining to needed documentation, and responsible for prioritizing incoming and outgoing distribution. Gather and distribute mail such as form-9s.


Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Minimum Qualifications: Six months of experience in planning, implementing and monitoring activities relevant to the agency's programs. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Preferred Qualifications: One year experience in computer use. Excel and word.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services. Must pass a physical exam and background investigation.
