Starting salary for this position: $110,000 to $150,000/Annual ($4,230.76 to $5,769.23/Bi-Weekly)*

The Kansas Department of Corrections is seeking a results-driven, emotionally intelligent, and operationally seasoned leader to serve as Warden of Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF) — the largest and most complex correctional institution in Kansas.
This position requires not only strategic oversight of daily operations but also a forward-thinking administrator capable of inspiring a culture of accountability, safety, and transformative rehabilitation. The ideal candidate brings both correctional acumen and leadership maturity — someone who can build credibility across staff levels, collaborate with community stakeholders, and navigate complex challenges with composure and integrity.
What You’ll Do
Lead with purpose. Direct and oversee all facility operations — security, fiscal management, human resources, and programs — ensuring safety, compliance, and effective offender management.- Shape culture. Model servant leadership and a growth-mindset approach that supports staff development and fosters resilience.
- Drive operational excellence. Monitor performance metrics, allocate resources strategically, and champion continuous improvement across all departments.
- Build bridges. Partner with Central Office, legislators, and community organizations to advance initiatives that improve outcomes and public trust.
- Safeguard standards. Ensure facility compliance with federal and state regulations, departmental policy, and the mission of KDOC.

What We’re Looking For
Essential Leadership Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressive correctional leadership, including at least 5 years at an executive or senior command level (Major, Classification Administrator, Program Director, or equivalent).
- Proven ability to lead large teams (400 staff) and manage multi-million-dollar budgets with accountability and transparency.
- Demonstrated skill in crisis management, change leadership, and organizational development.
Preferred Credentials
- Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or Public Administration.
- Strong understanding of correctional rehabilitation models and evidence-based practices.
- Track record of building high-performing teams and leading through complex transitions.
