Position Summary: The primary duties and responsibilities of this position involve researching, analyzing, verifying and processing sales and use tax refund requests. Educates customers by phone and in writing on applicable laws, policies and procedures relating to sales tax exemptions and the proper way to apply for a refund. Reviews all tax accounts belonging to a customer to make sure that they are in balance before a refund is issued. Performs ATP account adjustments. Helps maintain accurate refund data and appeal files. Works independently to process refunds within 120 days to avoid paying interest.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience in interviewing, investigating or providing technical assistance to clients, customers, or the public, and two years of experience or education in auditing or accounting support work.

Preferred Experience: Must be able to communicate and correspond professionally and proficiently. Knowledge of Kansas Sales and Use Tax Statutes and Regulations preferred.

Preferred Skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, proofreading, editing, and attention to detail.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: KBI and FBI fingerprint required due to access to Federal Tax Information files in KDOR systems.
